HERE ARE THE 9 THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN COMING TO A HEARING IN ANNAPOLIS.
1) Always bring your IDENTIFICATION PICTURE CARD, For example, your driver's license or your photo I.D. Card. You will NOT be able to get in the buildings if you don't have your IDENTIFICATION with you. 2) Do NOT leave the building or go off on your own without telling somebody where you are going. CDRC is responsible for you when you are at the legislature testifying on behalf of CDRC. It makes us nervous when we can't find somebody. 3) Prepare a head of time when scheduled to testify or speaking with legislators. Be sure to practice your testimony, or know what you are going to say to a legislator before hand. 4) If you are asked to speak and you have not had the chance to prepare, be brief and to the point. 5) Dress nicely, (but you do not have to wear a tie or a dress) A NICE pair of pants and a nice shirt would be fine to wear. 6) NO NO NO sleeping during the hearing, it is very unprofessional. If you get sleepy during a hearing, go out of the room for a couple minutes. Take a short walk or ride to get your blood flowing again. 7) NO talking during a hearing. If you have to talk, say it QUIETLY to the person that is sitting next to you. 8) Bring money for food or drink, or if you rather, bring something from home to eat and / or drink. It can be a very long day. 9) turn your cell phone OFF in the hearing room. |
