CDRC “Board of Leadership”

 

What is the make up of the “Board of Leadership”?

  • The committee will be made up of 5 individuals with a disability.
  • One person that identifies themselves as an active member of People On the Go of Maryland, or a local POG group. 
  • One person that identifies themselves as an active member of ADAPT.
  • One person that identifies themselves as having a developmental disability.
  • One person that identifies themselves as having a cognitive disability.
  • One person that identifies themselves as a person with any type of disability

 

If CDRC does not get an application from one of the categories listed above.  CDRC will seek out members who fall into the category from other organizations.  It is acceptable if individuals that apply for a seat on the committee fall into more then one category listed above as long as all categories are represented.

 

How the “Board of Leadership” personnel would be chosen.

·        People On the Go will pass out applications at their quarterly meeting In September. 

·        ADAPT will pass out applications during their monthly meeting in October and November.

·        Both groups will be asked to have their members mail in their application to CDRC by a set date.

·        CDRC has members that are not members of either group, POG or ADAPT.  CDRC will provide these members an application if they are interested in serving on the “Board of Leadership”.

·        CDRC will provide an application on its web page for applying to the “Board of Leadership”.

·        CDRC will provide an application in its newsletter for applying to the “Board of Leadership”.

·        Whoever is interested will return the application.  The members of CDRC will then vote for persons to be their selections to the “Board of Leadership”.

·        CDRC staff, or appropriate organization will ask each individual that returns an application to write a short bio of themself, with a paragraph explaining why they want to serve on the advisory committee. 

·        CDRC members will vote for one person per category listed above

·        The “Board of Leadership” members will have an one year term. 

·        After the one year term is up, s/he can run again for their seat on the “Board of Leadership”

·        There will be no limit on the number of years an individual can sit on the “Board of Leadership”.

 

How to ensure accountability of project staff.

·        Perform an annual staff evaluation by the full “Board of Leadership” with the staff of CDRC.

·        Write and use a job description for each of the CDRC ‘s staff for job accountability.

 

Duties of the “Board of Leadership”

  • Oversee the staff of CDRC to ensure CDRC is on task
  • Attend monthly “Board of Leadership” meetings to discuss the project.
  • Attend all CDRC meetings.
  • CDRC will form sub-committees, for example, to make a plan in case one of the staff members leaves CDRC, or has a health problem and is unable to continue.
  • The “Board of Leadership” will assist CDRC staff in answering some of the questions in their quarterly reports for the DD Council.
  • There will be no chairperson on the “Board of Leadership”. 
  • The “Board of Leadership” meetings will be run by a rotation of the committee members. 
  • The “Board of Leadership” meetings will be organized by CDRC staff who will mail out meeting notices.

 

Decision making process of the “Board of Leadership”.

·        The “Board of Leadership” will discuss issues that arise to be voted on at the next monthly membership meeting.

·        The “Board of Leadership” will be aware, in advance, of any important decisions to allow them to have time to consult with their organizations and prepare themselves

·        Each member of the “Board of Leadership” will have one vote.

·        Staff of CDRC will not receive a vote.

·        The majority vote will decide with all of the committee members participating in the voting process.
